Talking of Scotland....................

My sister and her hubby moved from the South East of England right to the top of Scotland, Near Glen Co - They traded in their old life for a new one in the hospitality business . I will let her tell you in her own words how they found this totally magical, beautiful place  I fell in love with it and revelled it its magical-ness (is that a word)? I can't wait to go back again, it really is beautiful and the people are lovely too. And the accomodation is georgeous s, with the most comfiest bed I have slept in !

Martina says :
From the deep depths of darkest Surrey, Neil & Martina moved themselves, friendly dog and 2 cats to Rowan Brae in April 2015.      It is now our home and also our way of life, our aim being to give you – our visitors – a relaxed, comfortable and welcoming stay in our Studios so that you feel at home too.
A bit about the Studios
We are friendly and informal, approachable and delighted to be on hand to help with anything we can, but we do respect your privacy during your stay.    Your Studio adjoining the rear of the property is self-contained with its own entrance separate from our home, giving you free access to suit yourself.

We don’t have any staff, just us to look after the Studios and our guests’ needs, but we hope we have thought of most things you might be looking for in your stay.    Do let us know if we have missed anything and we also welcome any thoughts and suggestions you may have. From the window you can spot many birds, deer that roam the fields, and even a pine marten who is a regular visitor right outside on the patio.     The loch-side is a 3 minute walk away and the beach is a haven for water birds (oyster catchers, plovers, herons, shags), strolls along the bay, beachcombing and even off-shore fishing.
For the comfort and relaxation of all our guests we regretfully do not cater for pets or children – there are other accommodation providers in the area that do.
A bit about us
Neil is a Scot born in Dunfermline and spending all his childhood holidays along the West coast of Scotland.     Having spent many years down south and abroad means no Scottish accent, but the hankering to return to his beloved country has never left.
Martina fell in love with the rugged splendour of the Scottish Highlands and Neil’s enthusiasm for his homeland.     After retiring from a long career in office management, it seemed the perfect time for a new adventure.
With many years of putting up touring folk artists who performed at the folk club we ran in Surrey, it seemed natural to expand our love of providing hospitality to our new life in the Glencoe area.     We were delighted to find such a scenic, peaceful spot for us and our Studio lettings.    We continue to explore all the leisure pursuits and activities this wonderful area has to offer – although, as we get older, it’s more the scenic routes than the tougher munroes Neil climbed in his younger days!

  1. Awww, thanks, Lady Mines, a very nice piece of writing. It is indeed a lovely place, whatever the weather. We have had gloriously blue skies and sunshine today, and the tops of the mountains are covered in snow, which pleases the nearby Glencoe Mountain Resort and Nevis Range for their skiing, sledging and other snow sports
