So you want to learn how to read tarot cards ?- Well the first thing you need is your own pack, and there are so many out there to choose from :-
Which Tarot Pack should I get?
When I decided to start Tarot reading in earnest again, I went to The purple-painted Curious Goods shop in No 6 The Shambles , Chesterfield , check out their website. www.curiousgoods.co.uk.
Here they have all manner of goods esoteric and a whole wall of Tarot cards. So many to choose from. The lovely lady behind the counter advised I should look through them and pick out the ones I was drawn to. Big shout out to the customer service in there and their expertise.
So I picked out a few and she allowed me to flick through samples. I was very happy to choose the The Druid Craft Pack by Stephanie and Philip Carr-Gomm,with beautiful illustrations by Will Worthington. Its says on the front 'Use the Magic of Wicca and Druidry to guide your life'
I particularly liked the illustrations of this one and enjoyed looking at the pictures. The authors explain that Wicca and Druidery paths are linked and there is common ground shared by both crafts so they named it Druidcraft. They go on to further explain it is possible to combine these two ways because they often draw from the same sources of ancestral wisdom and ancient story holding many features in common, including a reverence for the earth and using the four elements of Earth, Fire Wind and water. This resonated with me and being Welsh I was familiar with Druid Bards
There were many many packs of all shapes and sizes, but you should always get the ones that sing out to you, ones you can work with. The lovely lady said, to learn each card what she does is, put theory books aside and pick up one card at a time an look into it - What story is it telling you, how do you feel when concentrating on it. Does a verse or a poem, or music come into your mind.
This way of learning is personal to you and realises a personal link to each card.
And practise makes perfect ! the more you work with the cards and the more you familiarise your self with them and they will become second nature. Some people are drawn to the more traditional, christian referenced cards, some people like Angel Tarot cards, others cards with cats on - Which ever pack you choose it should be one you enjoy handling and working with- That's the way to get the best results. being able to relax , enjoy and let your intuitive juices flow, will get the best results.
